Boeing Snags $3.4B P-8s Poseidon Deal with Canada and Germany

Boeing has clinched a landmark $3.4 billion contract from the U.S. Navy, ushering in a new era of international defense collaboration. The agreement entails the production of 17 P-8A Poseidon maritime surveillance aircraft, with 14 designated for the Royal Canadian Air Force and an extra three for the German Navy. This strategic move underscores a major leap forward in bolstering the maritime patrol capabilities of Canada and Germany.

Canada officially announced its decision to procure the P-8A Poseidon in November 2023, signaling its intent to replace its aging fleet of CP-140 Auroras. The P-8A Poseidon, derived from Boeing's commercial 737, has gained acclaim for its versatility and reliability in anti-submarine warfare, anti-surface warfare, and intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance operations.
